Thetamychos is the solo music project of Bill O’Brien.
He's also the drummer for bands PVRE and The Silverbeets
based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

Journal of the Interstellar Penguin is an archive - a musical journal of improvised compositions that have remained in demo form. Compositions created by way of amalgamating elements of various genre’s. Fusing them in such a way as to sound entirely different from their origins. Guitars were recorded using homemade preamps and the percussion was tracked using microphones salvaged from 80’s tape recorders.

A penguins mind is coded into self learning AGI online which then recodes itself and its API into a godlike singularity that evolves into an intergalactic robotic species/civilization with very ‘penguin-like’ motives.

Before recording I’d sometimes start with a ‘what if ?’ premise...What if the pentatonic scale had different notes subtracted ? or What if you played a hybrid scale in the Phrygian mode in 5/4 ?

The results were usually unexpected but that's what's exciting about recording improvisations. With the unlimited amount of technology available today to record with it's important to sometimes limit your palette in order to remind yourself of the creative process of discovery.
