lyrics

Sound!
It can pound
Or it can resound
In my ears
I have no fears
It can get you high
Without any beers
It can convey a message
Or just be a mess
Random or in tandem
Composed or in savage throes
Anguished tones
Or soothing drones
Sexual moans and groans
The sound it floats through my head
I can even listen to someone that's dead
Who I never met
Yet they feel like a friend
When I hear their strings bend
A powerful sound
that can take you off the ground
Proverbially speaking at least
A sonic aural feast
It can make you jump and thrash
Some folks use it to get cash
Usually when their sound is trash rehashed
But the perfect blissful joys
of undiluted noise
Don't sell often
'Cause they don't soften
the feedback bleeds
And sows the seeds
of abstract revolution in my head
I need this sound
It fulfils me
And it thrills me
It's what life's all about
To scream and shout
Maybe not heard by the herd
But one lone pair of ears
That hears the song
And feels they belong.

"I had not yet heard of The Herd, the most excellent Australian verbalists, at the time so that line isn't a go at them. So anyway at age 40 the sentiments of myself aged 20 are essentially still true."
